Unreal Tournament 2004 map #9
A thousand years after the third world war, the nuclear winter continued to snow its
judgement onto mankind for his grievous sins. Most of the earth's continents were
destroyed and fell into the seas. The chunks of land that remained suffered a harsh
frozen climate, barely able to sustain humans. The few survivors of the war battled
over what land remained. Welcome to the new continent of Arctika...

Part of the design goal in this map was to create a lot of custom futuristic staticmeshes
for the team bases to give them a fresh new look. |

- All Unreal II textures
and meshes in this map were converted by me.
- Four software applications were used in the creation of this terrain including custom
in-house developed software.
- Low end PCs should turn off the Foliage option (terrain deco layers) and set their World
Detail level to Normal or Low, for an increase in game framerate.
- For extra game fun, be sure to try the following mutators with this map: Lightweight
Vehicles and Stunt Vehicles. And for a cool bot's-eye-view of the realistic
environment, start a Spectate game, choose your favorite bot, then press F4 to see what
they see.
- Server admins may remove the screenshots and music file from the zip for a smaller
server-push map file.
Map Specifics:
- 2 Flags (of course).
- 2 Weapon Lockers inside each main Base, 1 at each outside Vehicle Pad.
- 2 Health, 1 Shield and 1 SuperHealth at each Base.
- Health, Shields, SuperHealths and SuperShields spread along the roads.
- Custom SuperAdrenaline and MegaAdrenaline are on the map.
- Painter and Redeemer are on the map.
- Vehicle Loadout (per base): 5 Scorpions, 2 Hellbenders, 1 Goliath, 1 Raptor.
- Plus as always a few easter eggs. |
| Bugs |
- The main base doors can
stick open under extremely rare circumstances.
- Some people may consider the base hallways to be too narrow: they are 256UUs wide, three
players can stand shoulder-to-shoulder next to the struts, and a Scorpion can actually
drive around the base hallway. About 40% of the players will spawn at the outside
vehicle pad. The flag is outside and the base hallways are strictly for exit only,
so this should be a minimal issue. |
