The TerreSculptor build for August 31 2011 is now available for download. This build fixes a few bugs, adds the TGA file format to the texture loading, and adds a few new features including the Benchmark tool.
The latest build is always available by clicking through the www.lilchips.com website.
For the September build release, the features that will be worked on include the File Split and export dialog for splitting a heightmap into pieces, the Mask and Weightmap Editor which will help in creating layer files for UDK, and if there is enough time, deep multi-threading the Noise Generator which will significantly decrease the time to generate large noise-based heightmaps.
If you are using an NVidia video card with TerreSculptor, please note that the video driver default setting for vsync is Application Control, which for NVidia means that vsync is ON unless the application changes it.
This is the opposite functionality to AMD video cards where the Catalyst Control Center/Gaming/3D Application Settings/Wait for vertical refresh defaults to OFF unless the application specifies a different settings.
If you are encountering framerate performance clamping in the TerreSculptor viewport on NVidia cards be sure to set the NVidia Control Panel/Manage 3D Settings/Global Settings (or create a custom profile for TerreSculptor)/Vertical sync to Force Off.
The next TerreSculptor build release will have an application control vsync setting available in the Options dialog.
